Honda Civic CRX Coupe 1987

The Honda CRX, originally launched as the Honda Ballade Sports CRX in Japan, is a compact sports car manufactured by Honda. The first generation CRX was sold in some regions outside Japan as the Honda Civic CRX. The "CRX" name is said by some to stand for "Civic Renaissance-Experimental".

The Civic CRX was Motor Trends Import Car of the Year for 1984. It also made Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1985. The redesigned CRX was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1988. The CRX Si was Motor Trends Import Car of the Year for 1988.

The production of the CRX was seized in 1998, since there never really was a replacement for it, although some say the RSX/Integra can be seen as the new CRX. But, there is hope since there have been many rumours of a CRX comback, none of which have come to fruition. However, In August 2005 the usually reliable Autoweek reported that Honda plans a revival of the CRX brand that is sheduled to be on the market in 2007. No official announcement has been made by Honda.
